Internship, Mentorship and Camp Opportunities
Chabot Space & Science Center Galaxy Explorers Program
Do space and science inspire you? Do you love helping people? Applications are now open for The Galaxy Explorers Program at Chabot Space and Science Center. As a Galaxy Explorer (GE) half of your time will be interacting with Chabot visitors, sparking excitement and building knowledge about the wonders of the universe and the impact of space right here on Earth. During the school year, you spend the other half of the GE Program in an Inquiry Team. GEs are assigned to a Team based on their interests and availability, and work on group projects to dive deeper into real-world questions from space and STEM fields. The minimum monthly commitment is 2-3 days per month, including pre-scheduled Team meetings and self-scheduled floor shifts.

NASA Internship Programs: Summer 2025
NASA’s Office of STEM Engagement (OSTEM) paid internships offer students an opportunity to gain practical work experience while working side-by-side with mentors who are research scientists, engineers, and individuals from many other professions. Internships may be full time or part time on a NASA center or facility.

UCSF Science & Health Education Partnership - Teen Wellness Connection
UCSF SEP’s newest program, the Teen Wellness Connection (TWC), fosters youth leadership and public health interest as students learn about health issues facing teens. Participants collaborate with UCSF scientists and health researchers to learn about the year’s chosen topic, then create a one-day health summit for 150 high school students. TWC is a 9-month program for a team of high school students, composed of 5 Senior Leaders (rising seniors, program alumni) and 20 Junior Leaders (rising juniors). This team works together to brainstorm effective means to relay health information to their peers under the guidance of SEP staff.
For: rising 11th graders from an SFUSD high school or SF charter school

Applications are now open for STEM Next’s 2025 Flight Crew! If you are passionate about STEM and want to represent California as a youth ambassador, this is your chance to shine. As part of the Flight Crew, youth will share their unique STEM experiences and inspire their peers to discover STEM through afterschool and summer programs.

UC Berkeley Roar Academy
ROAR Academy is an intensive, rigorous two-week program for high school students who have demonstrated an aptitude for academic and professional careers in STEM. Talented and motivated high school students who are entering grades 10-12 in the fall work with UC Berkeley faculty, researchers, and scientists while learning about Python programming and autonomous driving algorithms.
For: 10th - 12th graders
Dates: Session 1: July 7 - 11, 2025 and July 14 - 18
Session 2: July 21 - 24, 2025 and July 28 - August 1
Location: The University of California, Berkeley
Cost: $1,200. Full scholarships are available for families who demonstrate financial need.

UC Berkeley Girls in Engineering Summer Camp
Applications are open for Girls in Engineering Summer Camp! In the weeklong camp, you will explore the many facets of engineering, design thinking, and real world problem-solving for a bioinspired climbing structure, complete with kid powered generators, mechanisms, and more!

Brain Camp @ UCSF
Brain Camp @ UCSF is a free, immersive, week-long experience for underserved and underrepresented high school students in the Bay Area, led by UCSF medical students and faculty. Join them in exploring the fascinating anatomy of the brain, learning about mind-blowing advances in neurosurgery, and understanding the complex interplay between mind and behavior. You’ll learn how to suture, dissect a brain, use a reflex hammer and much more! Additionally, there will be workshops and panels on college prep as well as extensive opportunities to interact with neurology faculty and medical students.

California Academy of Sciences Careers in Science Internship
Careers in Science is a multi-year, year-round, paid internship and youth development program for San Francisco high school students who come from communities underrepresented in STEM, including girls and students of color. If you share a curiosity for the natural world—from plants to planets, worms to snakes, and everything in between—apply for a Careers in Science internship with the California Academy of Sciences. Join other San Francisco teens to:

Applications are open for GWC’s Summer Programs! Choose your own adventure with two exciting program options:
Summer Immersion Program (SIP): Spend two weeks designing computer games in live virtual classrooms while making friends, getting practical college and career advice from industry leaders, and exploring a future career in tech.
For: 9th - 11th grade US based girls and non-binary students
Dates: Round 1: July 7-July 18, Round 2: July 28-August 8
Pathways: This flexible, six-week program lets students learn at their own pace with step-by-step video tutorials. Participants explore hot topics in tech like artificial intelligence, data science, cybersecurity, and web development, with opportunities to apply new skills to real-world projects and get career insights from tech industry pros.

Berkeley Lab Science Accelerating Girls' Engagement (SAGE) STEM Camp
SAGE STEM Camp is a one-week overnight summer program for young women and other marginalized genders to foster innovation, creativity, and engagement in the STEM community. The ideal camp participant is one who is interested in STEM but has not yet decided to pursue a STEM-related course of study for college.
For: 9th - 11th graders

Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) Foundation is offering Better Together STEM Scholarships of $2,500, $5,000 or $10,000.
