Student Evaluation Proctor
Scientific Adventures for Girls (SAfG) is seeking 6 Student Evaluation Proctors to proctor end of the year survey evaluations to our TK-6th grade girls in elementary schools in Richmond and Oakland. Each day you will travel to a different elementary school and work with students individually (for the younger cohorts) or in small groups (for the older cohorts) to proctor a short survey. The ideal candidate will be able to go to 2 - 5 schools per week. Preference will be given to candidates who can commit to 3+ schools per week.
These positions are in-person and temporary for 5 weeks only.
COMMITMENT:
5 - 15 hrs / week for 3 - 5 weeks
Travel to 2 - 5 schools per week M - F
Monday April 7, 2025 though Friday May 30, 2025
A 30 minute virtual training will be provided prior to start date
Core work hours will 2 - 3 hours during our after school program hours
After School hours are approximately from 1:30pm - 5:30pm and vary based on each individual school’s bell schedule
STIPEND:
$21 per hour
This is a paid stipend position that does not include any other benefits.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
For each school:
Prepare paper surveys in advance, by noting school name and date
Arrive 10 minutes before the beginning of class with surveys and sharpened pencils
For younger students (TK - 2nd graders), usher the student to a quiet space in the classroom or just outside. The Head Teacher will advise what is best for the proctoring.
Read the questions slowly to the student allowing them to view the survey and make reflective choices.
For older students (3rd - 6th graders), hand out the surveys and pencils and walk them through the questions one at a time. Prior to collecting the surveys, please be sure all questions have been answered and their names are legible at the top.
At the end of class, provide the Head Teacher with completed surveys.
LOGISTICS:
This is a part-time, in-person, hourly position.
Commitment: minimum of 2 days per week in April and May 2025.
Hours: after school hours (approximately 2:00pm - 5:30pm)
Days: Monday through Friday
Expectation:
1) Have a reliable vehicle and valid driver's license to get to the school sites.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Commitment to being able to work at minimum 2 afternoons per week for the month of May
Possess a valid driver's license and a reliable car (our schools are not easily accessible via public transportation) OR Capacity to easily get to schools in Richmond and Oakland. See Google Map for School Sites.
Commitment to educational equity and programming for girls
Ability to maintain an excellent work ethic, a high level of energy and enthusiasm
Spanish speaking is preferred, but not mandatory.

SAfG serves girls in TK through 6th grades. Our mission is to remove systemic barriers to all girls’ participation in STEM starting in kindergarten by introducing, sparking and building their interest through hands-on learning. Our programs increase their positive attitudes toward STEM and equip them with 21st century skills. In schools throughout the East Bay, SAfG provides hands-on, high quality after-school STEM programming while girls are young so they’ll stay engaged in STEM for the long term.
